15 Items You Should Never Share With Another Person
When we were kids, we were told that sharing is caring. If we share our things with others, we’re letting them know that we’re just as worried about their happiness as we are about our own, right? That’s all well and fine, but what about the things that we don’t want to share?
More importantly, what about the things that we absolutely should not share? Here’s a list of stuff that you should probably just keep to yourself.
1. Toothbrushes
You know that your mouth is the dirtiest part of your body, right? So why would you share something that has been all up in the dirtiest part of someone else’s body? Just don’t. Toothbrushes harbor insane amounts of bacteria.
2. Earbuds
Just consider the fact that you most likely wear these when you work out. All the while, you’re sweating, and those things are shoved in your ears. Don’t share sweat and earwax, friends.
3. Razors
Razors not only collect hair that you’ve been shaving off, but dead skin cells that are ripe with bacteria as well. That’s the last thing you want to put all over your body. In the most serious cases, razors have even been known to transmit blood-borne diseases.
4. Deodorant
I personally feel like this one speaks for itself, but if you’re still not convinced, residual bacteria and armpit sweat really aren’t things that you want to be passing around.
5. Flip-flops
If you’re looking for a sure-fire way to spread foot fungus, lend your flip-flops to someone.
6. Lip balm
This is a big no no! Cold sores are so easy to catch, and once you have one, they’ll keep coming back.
7. Toothpaste
Remember all that bacteria we talked about when it comes to sharing toothbrushes? The same thing applies to toothpaste, since most of us run the top of the toothpaste tube along the bristles of our toothbrushes.
8. Loofahs
These things are ripe with bacteria, too. You are supposed to change them out every month or so because of the huge build-up of dead skin, bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
9. Earrings
You can transmit blood-borne illnesses through earrings, since pierced ears are essentially glorified cuts. Even if you’ve had them pierced for years, just keep your earrings to yourself.
10. Vaseline
Whenever someone dips into a jar of vaseline, face cream, or any other kind of lotion, they contaminate it with new germs. It’s best to just dip into your own germs.
11. Bars of soap
After each use, bars of soap become more contaminated with dead skin cells and germs.
12. Towels
If your towels smell bad, it’s because they’re covered with bacteria, dead skin, and other germs. It seems weird, but it’s true.
13. Nose hair trimmers
Okay, first of all, who does this? Second of all, staph infections love hanging out in our noses, so sharing nose hair trimmers could lead to a world of hurt.
14. Regular hair trimmers
Sharing hair trimmers is not safe because it can spread bacteria and dead skin cells. And that’s if you only use it on your head. If you let your hair trimmer wander, then you open things up to a whole different kind of problem.
15. Nail clippers
Nail clippers are full of fungi. Even if someone looks like they have healthy, normal feet, they could have traces of fungus, or even warts.
Some of those are pretty obvious, but others? Not so much. No matter how close you are to a person, try not to get too close to their germs. That’s just unnecessary!
