Politico, which along with ABC and the Washington Post seems to be one of the few to accept Attorney General Eric Holder’s invitation to an off-the-record meeting of Washington bureau chiefs, reports that NBC News has at last announced that it too will pass.

Like the New York Times, the AP and others, NBC has cited Holder’s condition that the meeting be “off-the-record” as the deal-breaker. Is there any point in still having the meeting if (practically) no one is coming? Or does Holder need just one sympathetic media outlet to show up and then “leak” whatever details he wants to get out?
